Letture in #inglese: "Mysteries of Thorn Manor" di Margaret Rogerson

Elisabeth Scrivener is finally settling into her new life with sorcerer Nathaniel Thorn. Now that their demon companion Silas has returned, so has scrutiny from nosy reporters hungry for gossip about the city’s most powerful sorcerer and the librarian who stole his heart. Premesso che il romanzo lungo (Sorcery of Thorns - leggi la mia recensione qui: http://www.sognipensieriparole.com/2021/01/review-party-per-sorcery-of-thorns-di.html) mi era piaciuto molto e che desideravo immergermi nella stessa atmosfera magico-adorabile, sapevo che questa era una semplice novella e non un vero e proprio seguito, e pure in lingua.

Tuttavia, va anche detto che l'edizione-libretto è una cosuccia molto bella, piacevole da leggere e da rimirare in libreria. 

Tra l'altro, livello di inglese assolutamente abbordabile.

Più che una vera e propria vicenda autonoma, è il racconto di dieci giorni ulteriori vissuti da Nathaniel ed Elisabeth nella dimora avita dei Thorn, dopo la battaglia a colpi di grimori impazziti, maghi corrotti e demoni negoziatori.

Nel momento in cui si scopre che a Thorn Manor dovrà tenersi il ballo annuale di Midwinter, la casa comincia a fare le bizze, come se volesse sottoporre gli occupanti a delle prove di ammissione nelle sue innumerevoli stanze (alcune delle quali appaiono e scompaiono e conservano tracce di magia dei Thorns precedenti).

La nostra Scrivener riesce a gestire tutto con dolcezza, dall'amore per il suo mago alla preoccupazione per Mercy e Silas. 

Quest'ultimo resta il mio personaggio favorito, sia in forma umana che felina, ed è dotato di un fascino sexy-sinistro-inquietante che mi auguro di incontrare ancora in futuro (non dico un romanzo tutto suo, ma spererei in più spazio).
